“See how good it is for brethren to dwell together in harmony, in oneness.”
— Ray Manzarek
A Familiar Sound
The Strange Parade is one of Colorado’s premier tribute bands. Dedicated to the authentic revival of The Doors, the band is focused on delivering one of the best tribute and concert experiences available.
The sounds you’ll hear lovingly replicate the instrumentation and tone of the original group. The Gibson G101 organ tones of Ray Manzarek’s distinct right hand were sampled from the true instrument, and a Fender Rhodes Piano Bass fills in the bottom end. Drum grooves send you back to John Densmore’s signature fills at the Hollywood Bowl, and ripping and wailing guitar solos speak the truly unique language of Robby Krieger completing the musical ensemble. And through it all, the baritone croons and screams of Jim Morrison, complete with improvised poetry and clownish stage behavior, guide the night into strange and weird places.
“I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments.”
— Jim Morrison
An Unscripted Tribute
Committed to the simple, live direction of the original group, The Strange Parade is not your usual cover band. There is no script, the musicians don’t refer to each other as Jim or Ray, and no one ever wears a wig. Expect to hear the music and poetry of The Doors, authentically and respectfully revived. No two shows are ever the same.
Four members, improvisation, theater, and the unknown—these are the elements of The Strange Parade.
Matthew Barham - vocals
Ben Thompson - keys
Derek Arnold - guitar
Zack Ritchie - drums
We’re Always Changing
Scattered throughout the internet you’ll discover recordings and videos of the band going back nearly a decade (and they are all unique and different)! Some are great! Some are alright. And then you’re bound to find the rough edges and looseness—just as The Doors should be. We believe going off the rails and finding ourselves in unknown territory to be key to The Doors Concert Experience. Without that sense of danger there just isn’t anything new to unlock in the music. Every single show should be different in some way.
